Our Ministries

We provide a range of pastoral ministries to service, support, and encourage your Christian journey .

Confession

The Orthodox Church holds that confession is not made to the
priest but to our Lord Jesus.
The priest is a witness of penitence before God and a guide for
spiritual direction.

Hospital Visitation

Hospital visits are performed upon request to help comfort and guide the faithful during such difficult life moments.

Spiritual Counseling

The priest is a source of comfort and guidance encouraging and guiding individuals on the faith journey to Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Church School

"Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven."
Matthew 18:3
St Herman of Alaska Orthodox Christian Church School currently provides a class for children between the ages of 3 and 8 years of age.
The class is provided during the services.  Time is alternated throughout the year so the children experience the whole service.
Lessons usually coincide with the gospel reading for the day. Activities are provided to help children grasp the meaning of the lesson and remember the teaching for their spiritual growth.
The lessons, activities and discussions center on God's love for us, and help children learn how to participate in parish life and live as an Orthodox Christian in our world today.

"Therefore Take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with Truth, and having put on the breastplate of Righteousness, and having shod your fee with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."

Ephesians 6:13-17
